First Friday 1600 1000 Macon Music Trail

Macon Music’s Monthly Downtown Block Party.

First Friday is a multi-block party occurring monthly in Downtown Macon. The event is a multi-faceted, people-packed monthly tradition showcasing the vibrancy and excitement surrounding Downtown Macon and often features live music performing in Third Street Park and along the sidewalks of Cherry, Second and Poplar Streets.

Founded by NewTown Macon, a non-profit downtown renewal agency that strives to attract residents, create jobs and build a sense of place, what started as a way to boost downtown business is now a successful testament to Downtown Macon’s vibrancy.

Whether its food, art, entertainment or family activities, there is something for everyone during First Friday. Check out a gallery opening at Macon Arts or Gallery West, hear live music on the sidewalk or at Parish on Cherry, shop extended hours at carefully curated and independently owned stores, special events and more.

Rock Candy Tours offers their weekly walking “Free Birds and Night Owls” Friday evening tour, starting at The Rookery and ending at Grant’s Lounge. Visit Macon hosts live “Soul Spots” in various locations (featuring different artist each month). You can even grab your beverage to-go (open container is allowed every Friday in Downtown Macon, according to city ordinance) from more than 35 restaurants and bars, from casual to fine dining, coffee and dessert and full bar to brew pup of locally crafted beer.
